Oh how I have been looking forward to this! Oh for a week now I have been carrying the pine needles in my pocket, and the thought even before that.
It was in Berlin that I first noticed that there were these varieties of pine with longer needles, the kind we don’t have up in the Stockholm area. In Köln I gathered a good bunch (the brown ones which I’m coiling) and in San Sebastian I gathered some more (the green ones. From a fallen branch, mind!)
This is my first try at a pine needle basket. Look at how wonky and uneven the stitches are! Yet the work was smooth despite the shaking of the bus, and somewhat even, though I don’t have a gauge.
So calming. And easy; I could weave while glancing out the window on the beautiful landscapes swooshing by. The work kept me in check for most part of the 8-hour bus ride, and I look forward to continuing it on the flight tomorrow.
Linen yarn, of course.
